Historically, Kampung Bantal served as a vital trading and transit point for people journeying along the Tembeling River, the primary access route into the deep interiors of Taman Negara (the Malaysian National Park). The village’s name, “Bantal,” meaning “pillow” in Malay, is thought to have been inspired by a massive boulder in the river resembling a pillow, which became a landmark for travelers navigating the river. The Ulu Tembeling area in the Jerantut District of Pahang comprises several traditional Malay villages, often accessible by boat along the Tembeling River
